TEST
YOUR HEARING
Hearing loss affects more than
400,000 New Zealanders. One person in 10 has
a problem hearing in certain situations but
most would not consider themselves to be deaf.
A person with a hearing loss may find they miss
the beginnings and ends of spoken words. Or
they may have difficulty hearing in some situations,
particularly when there is background noise.
Often, hearing loss is more of a problem for
the family members and friends of the person
with impaired hearing rather than for the person
themselves.
